Executable file vs Text File

Executable file : An executable file is a file that is used to perform various functions or operations on a computer. Unlike a data file, an executable file cannot be read because it’s compiled. On an IBM compatible computer, common executable files are .BAT, .COM, .EXE, and .BIN.




Text File : A text file is a computer file that only contains text and has no special formatting such as bold text, italic text, images, etc. With Microsoft Windows computers text files are identified with the .txt file extension, as shown in the example picture to the right

Show Hidden Files and Extension

   1. Hide Extension: 

       – from File Explorer, click View tab

       – Click Options ? Change Folder and Search Option

       – Click View Tab? Check ‘Hide Extension for known files’

                                                                                                                                                 

 2. Hide Files

       – from File Explorer, click View tab

       – Click Options ? Change Folder and Search Option

      – Click View Tab? Check Option button
